We believe that setting children on the right path as early as possible is a great foundation for the choices and direction their lives take in future. That is why we choose to assist children at a young age.

ABOUT US

The Juliet Akinyi Foundation was set up to assist kids who come from a disadvantaged background in Kenya get a better future.

Our inspiration, Phoebe Juliet Akinyi, was a fun-loving and vibrant Kenyan girl who had learning difficulty, which led to her parents enrolling her in the Jacaranda Special School. At Jacaranda, she discovered her talent, which was running. Juliet went on to participate in the 1999 Special Olympics World Summer Games held in North Carolina, USA.

One year later, on her way to Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi for Saturday practice, Juliet’s life was cut short by a hit and run driver at the age of 19.

This foundation will bring people together and reignite fond memories of the love and joy that Juliet always took wherever she went.

Let Them Be Little ...

We are so glad we get to partner with St Andrew’s School in Simenya village in Nyanza, Kenya. This primary school serves the local community to offer education to children who need it the most. In some cases the kids are orphans, in other situations the parents may not be in a position to provide for their education.

It is such a joy to witness abounding laughter when these kids come together in a safe place. St. Andrew’s school also provides a lunch meal for the kids, knowing it might be their only one for the day. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for these little ones.
